ENVIRONMENTAL

ALS ranks amongst the largest commercial environmental testing laboratory groups in the world. Sample matrices vary from water and soil to sediment, sludge, waste, biota and air. Laboratories are equipped with the latest in analytical equipment including ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, LC/MS, GC/MS, GC/HRMS, auto-analysers and discrete analysers, among a comprehensive inventory. Analytical methods are adopted from local (TNV, CSN) and international (EN, ISO, US EPA, ASTM, CEM, NIOSH, AOAC) standards. The laboratories are characterized by a strong quality and service ethos. ALS is clearly the global market leader in Quality, Range of Services, Coverage, Technical Expertise and Project/Staff Experience.

ALS in Scandinavia operates express laboratories - Quick-Labs - in Stockholm (Sweden) and Kotka (Finland) to serve urgent requests with same day or overnight analyses.

In Sweden, The ALS laboratory in Luleå has more than 25 years experience of using plasma based techniques and currently operates 14 ICP-based instruments with various detection systems and capabilities (4 ICP-OES, 9 high resolution ICP-MS and 1 multi-collector ICP-MS).

The Luleå laboratory is a unique analytical laboratory providing top quality analyses of chemical composition, impurities, and stable as well as radiogenic isotopes for environmental, food, pharmaceuticals, clinical applications, electronics, specialized industrial and research applications.
The technical expertise and advanced equipment also allows high quality and ultra trace levels of most elements, including isotope analysis, in all environmental matrices.

In mainland Europe, ALS has a central location in Prague that allows for easy access by clients in Europe. The Prague location is a full-service environmental laboratory offering a variety of inorganic, organic and microbiological testing services for a variety of sample types. Among them:

Pesticides
Petroleum hydrocarbons fractionations
PCBs, PAHs,
Chlorophenols, phtalates
Volatile organic compounds
Heavy metals, elements
Nutrients
Cyanides
Bacterias, yeasts and moulds

The Ceska Lipa laboratory specializes in radiochemical testing of waters, waste building materials, food, and other substances of interest; ecotoxicity testing of various environmental samples as well as organic and inorganic analyses for industrial manufacturers (galvanic baths, painting baths, purity of chemicals, etc.).

Heavy metals
Gross alpha and beta activities
Tritium, radon 222, radium 226/228
Natural radionucleides
Man-made radionucleides
Acute ecotoxicity
Bioluminescence tests

The Pardubice laboratory offers both routine and specialized environmental testing services for a wide variety of parameters, such as PBB, PBDE and coplanar PCBs, and sample matrices. It is also the premier provider of high resolution PCDD/F analysis in Central Europe.

Dioxins (PCDD/F)
Coplanar PCBs
Mono to decachlorobiphenyls
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers

The ALS Europe Environmental Division provides considerable technical expertise and services as follows.
