Fipronil testing in eggs

Aug 15, 2017

Following the recent “Fipronil egg scandal” where millions of eggs, and food products containing eggs, have been removed from supermarket shelves across Europe ALS now offers testing of Fipronil in eggs.

Fipronil has been used as an insecticide to combat fleas, lice and ticks on animals. However, the compound has been banned by the EU for use on animals destined for human consumption.

The analysis is performed at our sites in Chatteris, UK, Prague, Czech Republic and Zoppola, Italy. The laboratories are using LC-MS-MS technology for the testing with a reporting limit of 0.005 mg/kg. Standard turn-around time for samples is 10 days with priority service available upon request.
