ALS is pleased to confirm the acquisition of Leochimica, an Italian laboratory based in Zoppola in Northern Italy. The Leochimica team provides a full range of services to food growers, processors, distributors and retailers as well as environmental analytical services and technical training.

The laboratory was founded in 1985 and employs more than 60 staff at the site in Zoppola.

Commenting on the acquisition, Andreas Jonsson, ALS Europe General Manager:

“Leochimica is recognized as a high technology, high-quality laboratory and is a great cultural fit for ALS and an important further step in our global Life Sciences strategy. Italy is the fourth largest economy in Europe and having an analytical hub laboratory well placed in the northeast will allow ALS to develop its hub and spoke model to service all of northern Italy. To further support this growing organization the plan is to develop a number of spokes in the region through greenfield development and smaller acquisitions”

The senior management team of Leochimica are remaining with ALS and are excited about the development opportunities ALS brings to the operation. Following this acquisition, ALS now has approximately 3000 staff in its European Life Science businesses with representation in 15 countries.
