TBT and other Organotin Compunds are being banned from use in the European Union. These compounds have over the years been used as additives in consumer products and consequently they have ended up in the environment. Legislation now calls for testing of Organotin Compounds and especially for TBT where there is a EQS (Environmental Quality Standard) at 0.2 ng/l in water. To reach such detection levels laboratories have had to apply new novel approaches. ALS decided to use GC coupled to HR-ICP-MS to satisfy both governmental and clients demands.
